Things I Wouldn't Mind Getting For My Birthday

As you may or may not know, my birthday is on Valentine's Day. Which is 4 days away. I'll be 24; it's not a milestone year, or any significant number... but I'm still very much excited!

I haven't actually done much for my birthday the past 5 years or so. My friends all bail on me saying they have Valentine's plans with their boos, and I'm typically too broke from the holidays to go on some cool vacation by myself -- so I tend to just get overly dressed up and have dinner with my family.

Here's to hoping I do something fun! But if not, I can always have a good birthday by buying myself some rad gifts... unless you want to get them for me first. ;)

Ovate - Valhalla Hooded Sweater - $85 - OVATE.ca
Because what grim reapette doesn't need a leather trimmed cloak hoodie?

Wildfox Couture - Loved Tahiti Tunic - $92 - DollsKill.com
Goes along with the whole "Valentine's Day birthday" thing, right?

UNIF - Bummer Crop Top - $90 - DollsKill.com
This model does it no justice; I saw it on girl in Urban the other day and I was drooling.

One Teaspoon - Canyon Crochet Poncho - $69.30 - DollsKill.com
I believe UNIF makes something similar to this as well. I just think it'd look good with my Fairlanes and a floppy black hat. The boho goth.

H&M - Dress - $29.95 - HM.com
It's just SO pretty.

UNIF - Hellbounds - $242 - Karmaloop.com
I've been hesitant to get these ever since they came out. I'm just not into the whole "boot" thing. I wish they didn't go so high up the ankle. They just remind me so much of clown shoes. But, hey, if I were to get these as a present I would wear them without reserve!

Jeffrey Campbell - The Solitaire Shoe - $138 - MissKL.com
Zara had a pair similar to these for only about $20 cheaper that have since sold out. I need. Please.

Zara - Bowling Bag - $79.90 - Zara.com
I first saw this in Zara a few weeks back. It's the perfect classic black bag.
I just didn't have $80 extra at the time I saw it. Wah wah.

Daniel Wellington - Classic Sheffield Lady Watch - $199 - DanielWellington.com
Totally down with this watch. It can lean towards basic bitch, yes, but can also be simple chic (HATE THAT WORD) if worn correctly. But it's sold out right now anyway... maybe that's a sign I should move on.

2013: The Year of the Dress?

2013 is roughly a month and a half in, and I've noticed a trend in my spending habits... DRESSES.

I can admit that I definitely have purchased more clothing than I already need in these past few weeks; I can sense a selling trip to Buffalo Exchange in the near future. But do I regret purchasing these feminine statement pieces? Absolutely not.

With dresses now taking up the most real estate in my closet, I'm wondering if this trend goes beyond me and is encompassing others as well? Could 2013 be 'The Year of the Dress' for all of us?

From NastyGal's sale section for only $15, I found this gem. It's called the 'Shadowplay Dress'.
A hi-lo maxi with the most daring top I own.
It is sold out now, but NastyGal usually has something similar to this.

Crushed velvet mini dress from American Apparel. $44
So black and so tight. A modern Morticia Addams' dream.

H&M has their version of the For Love and Lemons 'Lulu' dress. A little shorter, but a lot cheaper -- $14.95 versus $98. Plus I could never find my size in stock on the FL&L original.

This Alexander McQueen print inspired a-line dress is another H&M find. A $24 dress that goes perfect with an $8 pair of thigh highs and a $4 latte.

I've seen this type of dress on so many sites. I found this one at $20 in a cheap mall store called Foreign Exchange. Long story short, I'm glad I didn't buy an expensive one online because my chest is too small to make those 'tit straps' flattering. But throwing an oversized cardigan over it makes a damn good outfit; so I'm pleased.
